When you sit on a tour bus smelling like hell, telling the worst jokes and
still feeling comfortable you know that
you're in the right place" – Bass
player Eero, December 2002
On a cold winter day nine years ago The Rasmus,
(now one of Finland’s most respected bands),
stepped on stage for the first time at their high school in the Finnish
capital Helsinki. Never did
these guys expect that nearly ten years later they would be receiving several gold and platinum
records as well as several Finnish Grammy awards and a following of tens of thousands of
enthusiastic fans.
The band was originally formed for a schools christmasparty in 1994.
Their first name was Sputnik, but before their
first gig, it turned to Anttila. It was one of those
names that sound fun for a couple of days. Soon their name turned
to Rasmus. The name came
from Janne's heavyband-idea Trashmosh. The band's members were then Lauri, Eero, Pauli and
Janne.
In some situation found Teja Kotilainen the boys from the club Oranssi. Since then, he has been
their manager. In
december 1995 the band label "Teja G. Records".
In February 1996 Rasmus signed a recording contract with Warner Music Finland, and in the
same year's March, their
first album 'Peep' was realeased. It sold gold. That year Rasmus
performed in over 100 gigs, including festivals in Finland,
Russia and Estonia.
During the year 1997 Rasmus released a single 'Blue', that sold gold and an album 'Playboys'. Rasmus performed over a
hundred gigs in 1997, among other things in Helsinki's Olympic Stadion for 40000 spectators and TV, and warmed up Rancid and
Dog Eat Dog.
In September 1998 the single 'Liquid' was released, and it went straight to MTV Nordic's Top40's 1st place. Criticians
and fans voted Liquid 'The best sonf of the year 1998'.
In 1999 Rasmus released a new album called 'HellOfATester'. The band played over 80 gigs and warmed up Garbage and The
Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In 2000 Janne left the band and Aki became the new drummer. The name Rasmus turned to The Rasmus and the band signed
a recording contract with Playground Music Scandinavia. The 4th album 'Into' was recorded and mixed.
In 2001 'Into' was released in Scandinavia and Germany. The Rasmus worked hard with gigs in
Finland, Sweden, Norway
and Germany. The band warmed up HIM and Roxette in Europe.
In 2002 popularity stayed enormous and the band played lots of gigs.

released in Scandinavia and
other Europe. 25.4. the single 'In my life' was released in Finland.
